VAI TAUA

"He has terrific field presence when he gets the ball down the field. He has that second vision. That's just a gift. That's a natural gift. He's a glider. You look at him and he doesn't look like he's moving fast, but he's moving fast. He's probably one of the best backs I've ever had and I've had some good backs here." –Chris Ault, Nevada Head Coach

Former Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Gil Brandt:

  • Consistent. “Taua was consistent in all phases…runs with a low pad level and keeps his head up, allowing him to locate cutback lanes and get through small areas…aggressive in pass protection, consistently attacking his man at the line of scrimmage…showed consistent hands…quick to turn downfield after the catch.”
–The Sporting News report on East-West Shrine practices.

3. COMPETITIVE TOUGHNESS

He is a relentless back that plays with good natural leverage and packs a wallop for would be tacklers. He is also a weapon in the passing game, as he has a knack for getting open on underneath routes and has very good hands and body control.” -NFL.com Scouting Report
  • Had nine 100-yard games in 2010 and 26 in his career.
  • 38th most rushing yards in NCAA history (4,588).

4. WORK HABITS

  • “He’s had to work for everything, he has the work ethic and professionalism.” –Todd Norman, Cutting Edge Sports Training
  • “Extremely durable and productive back who projects well to the next level as a full feature back. Tough and hard working.”
    -NFLDraftScout.com

  • “Vai Taua is a versatile back who can fill both backfield spots. He is well developed and shows fine hands in addition to inside running.” –Draft expert Frank Coyle
